This trek passes through Sherpa country all the way to the Everest Base Camp following the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa.
There are many ways to trek in this area. One can either walk all the way up and back, walk one way and fly out on the way back or fly in and fly out depending on the time at hand and inclination. The first requires around a month, the second just about three weeks and the third at least two weeks. The walk starts at Jiri, which is a day-long scenic drive away from Kathmandu while the flight takes one to Lukla or Shyangboche in about an hour.
