Day 01 Delhi/Kathmandu - Paro The flight into the Himalayas reveals breathtaking views of the great peaks, taking you right into the Dragon Kingdom’s cloud scraping airstrip at Paro ( Altitude 7000 ft. ) Your Bhutanese escort from Bhutan Tourism Corporation Limited (BTCL) will greet you on arrival and drive to the Kichu Resort. After refreshments take a stroll around the little town at Paro. Dinner and overnight at the Kichu Resort.
Day 02 Paro/Thimpu After breakfast a 2- hour drive through the Paro and Thimpu valleys to the capital of Bhutan ( Altitude 7000 ft. ). Enroute visit the Simtokha Dzong, The oldest fortress of its kind which once guarded the Thimpu valley, built by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1627. It is now a religious university. Drive to Hotel River View for lunch, then visit the National Library, which holds a vast collection of ancient Buddhist manuscripts, the school of Thangka Painting and the Traditional Medicine Institute, where centuries old healing arts are still practised. Visit the Memorial Chorten to His Late Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and take 15 minutes ride to Dechenchholing, to witness the Gold and Silversmiths at work. Then, the Tashichhodzong( "Fortress of the Glorious Religion"), built in 1641 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and reconstructed in 1961 by the Late King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck using traditional methods, without the use of any nails or plans on paper. Dinner & overnight at Hotel River View.
Day 03 Thimpu - Paro If this day is Saturday, visit the weekly market , where you can mingle in the hustle and bustle of the crowds of shoppers and villagers. Then visit the Handicrafts Emporium for a little souvenir shopping. Lunch at the Hotel River View, the afternoon can be spent at leisure to peep into the shops of Thimpu town. Evening drive back to Paro. Overnight at the Kichu Resort.
Day 04 Paro - Sightseeing The day begins with a visit to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong. This Dzong is of historical importance, from it’s ramparts the Bhutanese repelled Tibetan invaders. On a clear day , the 24,000 ft. white domed peak of scared Chomolhari ( Mountain of the Goddess ) looms overhead. After lunch at the Hotel, visit Taa Dzong, the National Museum housed in an ancient watchtower, it has a fine collection of ancient Thangka paintings, textiles, weapons and artefacts. Dinner and overnight at the Kichu Resort.
Day 05 Paro - Kathmandu/Delhi Early breakfast at the hotel and then drive to the airport to board the departure flight. Your BTCL escort will assist you with exit formalities and bid you farewell. |
